Experimenting in Modo 701

Lately I have been experimenting in Modo 701 SP5 on Linux. The reason behind this was to try and broaden my skill set and learn all those little things that I missed the first time around. Being a long time Maya user I feel I have gotten accustomed to doing thing a certain way (which may be the way I first learned it many years ago) and haven’t pushed myself to see what new technology and workflows are out there.

It’s been really interesting to see how another package works. Some concepts seem very foreign to me especially the shader tree and Character Rigging. Navigation is a little funny and I dont feel as in control while animating but hopefully I can get used to that. I absolutely love the render engine and modelling tools. Even though its been only a week or so I feel that I am getting good results at a decent speed (slower than I am in Maya but that’s to be expected).

I’ll try and post links to useful tidbits, scripts, tutorials etc.

It should be interesting… more experimentation to come
